India is a land of ethnic diversity in terms of language, religion, cuisine, festivals as well as art and culture. There are ‘29 states’ in India and each state has its own culture and traditions. Indian music, movies, languages, philosophy has influenced the entire world.
Some examples are as follows :
Greetings – Pressing hands together with a smile and saying namaste is a common cultural practice in India which is now, famous all over the world.
Performing Arts – Indian art of dance includes various styles like Kathak, Kathakali,
Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, etc. Koodiyattam is a performing art of Kerala, which has been recognized by ‘UNESCO’ as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity.
Visual Arts – India is home to many iconic sculptures and architecture that date back to the Indus valley civilization. Paintings at Ellora and Ajanta caves are famous all over the world.
The ‘Ministry of Culture’ in India has been given the task of preserving and promoting the arts and culture of India.
